This is a report released to the media from the Rocky Mountain House (RMH) RCMP giving a brief description of various crimes and call-ins, both solved and unsolved throughout the community between the dates of September 3- 9.
Not all crimes reported are listed in this report.
September 3
2:02 P.M. – Call of a possible impaired driver on Highway #11 in Nordegg. Police located and stopped the Corvette east of Nordegg. The adult male driver blew a “Fail” on the alcohol-screening device and was subsequently issued provincial sanctions, which included a fine and licence suspension. The vehicle was towed.
September 4
6:30 A.M. – 2007 white FORD F350 stolen from the alley at a residence in RMH.
11:20 A.M. – A Nissan pickup truck, which was reported stolen a month ago from Red Deer County, was found abandoned in RMH.
12:36 P.M. – A black 2006 GMC Sierra was reported stolen from a residence in RMH overnight. It was located the following day, parked in front of a residence in Rocky. The door handle and ignition were damaged.
1:13 P.M. – Report of a disturbance at a residence in RMH. Police attended and arrested an adult male for assault. After a “Judicial Interim Release Hearing,” he was released on a $3,000 “Promise to Pay” with numerous conditions.
8:43 P.M. – Report of a vehicle in the ditch. The driver had reportedly left the scene on foot and was hiding along the road. Police located the individual who was extremely intoxicated. The adult male refused to provide breath samples and was subsequently issued provincial sanctions. The vehicle was towed.
September 5
3:34 A.M. – Report of a male individual pointing a firearm at another person on the O’Chiese First Nations Reserve. Police attended, however, the victim refused to provide a statement.
4:30 A.M. – Call of an intoxicated female causing a disturbance at a residence on the O’Chiese First Nations Reserve. Police attended and arrested the individual who had outstanding warrants for her arrest.
8:32 A.M. – Report of a rock thrown through a window at a residence on the O’Chiese First Nations Reserve.
5:52 P.M. – Call of an erratic male in the back yard of a residence on the Sunchild First Nations Reserve. Police attended and arrested a very intoxicated adult male who was released after sobering up.
September 6
7:26 P.M. – Call of two females laying on the Railway tracks just off Hwy #11A. Gone upon arrival.
September 7
10:35 A.M. – Break & Enter reported overnight to a commercial business in the RMH industrial area. The culprit(s) were able to gain access to the gated yard and then broke locks off a trailer and a shed.
12:14 P.M. – Call of an abandoned stolen white FORD F350 truck, located down an embankment, north of RMH. It had been reported stolen from HORBURG a week prior.
12:48 P.M. – Attempted theft and vandalism to the Handi-bus from the Good Samaritan Society. The ignition was damaged and the licence plate was stolen.
6:45 P.M. – Theft of a licence plate off a vehicle while parked at a RMH grocery store.
September 8
9:44 A.M. – Call from a RMH grocery store advising that a young person had come in and tried to use a stolen credit card. Under investigation.
2:54 P.M. – Attempted theft from a RMH department store. Description of suspects and vehicle obtained. Under investigation.
5:59 P.M. – Report of a male who had been bear sprayed at a residence on the O’Chiese First Nations Reserve. Police attended, however, the victim refused to provide any information and didn’t want police help.
September 9
3:05 A.M. – Report of a disturbance at a residence on the O’Chiese First Nations Reserve. Police attended and arrested an adult female for B&E and for having outstanding arrest warrants. She will appear before a Justice in a Judicial Interim Release hearing.
9:01 A.M. – Attempted theft of a GMC pickup truck from a residence in RMH.
1:47 P.M. – Police stopped a vehicle on Highway #11 after it made an unsafe U-turn. The vehicle was not registered or insured. The driver was suspended and consequently, violation tickets were issued along with the vehicle being seized for 30 days.
9:59 P.M. – Report of an unknown young adult male spray painting graffiti on a church in RMH. The person fled on a silver bike after the witness yelled at him. Under investigation.
