This is a report released to the media from the Rocky Mountain House (RMH) RCMP giving a brief description of various crimes and call-ins, both solved and unsolved throughout the community between the dates of October 1-14.
Not all crimes reported are listed in this report.
October 1
1:34 A.M. – Call of a disturbance at a residence on the O’Chiese First Nations Reserve. Police attended and arrested an adult male who will was released after sobering up.
6:01 A.M. – Police stopped a vehicle in RMH and arrested the adult male driver for possession of Methamphetamine. The adult male passenger was arrested for an outstanding warrant and will also be charged with resisting arrest after he refused to cooperate and decided to fight with police. He also was in violation of conditions after been previously released on a Court Release Order.
4:41 P.M. – Vandalism reported to a school vehicle on the O’Chiese First Nations Reserve
7:06 P.M. – Report of youth drinking at the RMH skateboard park. Police attended and arrested an uncooperative drunk male youth who refused to identify himself. He was held in cells until his parent could pick him up the following morning.
October 2
5:50 P.M. – Call of a vehicle theft on the O’Chiese First Nations Reserve. It was later located abandoned in the ditch, north of the Sunchild Gas bar.
October 3
3:29 P.M. – Report of a truck camper and enclosed trailer broken into near the Nordegg River gas plant while the owner was quadding. A black Polaris 850 was also stolen.
5:30 P.M. – While on patrol on the O’Chiese First Nations Reserve, the RMH Crime Reduction Unit seen a young adult male on a kids quad with a child passenger. The individual was known to have outstanding warrants for his arrest. The officer arrested and tried to speak to him but he attempted to flee on the slow moving machine and then got stuck in a wooded area. He was arrested for “Impaired Driving” and “Flight from Police” in addition to the outstanding arrest warrants. The child was returned safely to the mother.
October 4
10:39 A.M. – Report of municipal election signs removed from locations in Clearwater County.
2:38 P.M. – Report of a squatter trespassing on private late in RMH.
11:16 P.M. – Report of gunshots fired at a residence on the O’Chiese First Nations Reserve. No injuries. Under investigation.
October 5
8:42 A.M. – Report of a pickup truck broken into overnight in Caroline. The door lock and ignition were damaged.
4:40 P.M. – Police attempted to stop a vehicle with mismatched licence plate on the Sunchild First Nations Reserve. The vehicle fled to a nearby residence where the adult female driver was arrested on numerous outstanding warrants from RMH and Calgary. She has been charged with having no insurance or registration and having a suspended driver’s licence. An adult male passenger also was arrested on an outstanding warrant.
October 6
1:59 A.M. – Police located a vehicle in RMH which had earlier in the day, fled from police. An adult male, who attempted to flee in a field was arrested along with two female individuals. The licence plate on the vehicle had been reported stolen. A small amount of Meth was found in the vehicle along with a loaded shotgun. Charges are pending.
7:51 A.M. – Attempted theft of a vehicle, ATV, and trailer while parked at a RMH motel overnight. The steering column of the vehicle was damaged.
10:11 A.M. – Report of a vehicle rifled through overnight in RMH. A Dewalt drill and pocketknife were stolen.
1:14 P.M. – Vandalism reported to RMH Town office.
October 8
12:19 P.M. – Report of B&E to Rocky motorcross club on Hwy #11 near landfill. Gate broken in the last few days and fuel was stolen.
1:10 P.M. – 911 call of a disturbance at a residence on the Sunchild First Nations Reserve. Police attended and arrested an intoxicated male who was uncooperative and resisted arrest. Charges are pending.
2:47 P.M. – Report of an abandoned vehicle on a lease site in Clearwater County. It had been reported stolen a few days prior from Sylvan Lake. Vehicle was towed and the owner advised.
9:19 P.M. – Police stopped a vehicle in RMH with tinted windows. Three individuals were arrested after they were found to be in possession of illegal firearms. Charges are pending against two local adult males for “Unauthorized Possession of firearms”, “Unsafe storage of firearms, and “Possession of Firearms in a motor vehicle.”
October 9
5:57 P.M. – Call of an abandoned car on its roof on Hwy #11 near Nordegg. Owner contacted and advised that it had been stolen earlier in the day. Vehicle towed.
11:33 P.M. – Call of a disturbance at a residence in Caroline. Police attended and arrested an adult female who was released after sobering up.
October 10
10:47 A.M. – 2007 silver GMC Sierra truck stolen overnight from a residence in Condor.
October 12
1:19 P.M. – Report of a travel trailer broken into on Hwy #54 near Caroline. Suspects slept in the beds and stole an IPad and jewellery.
7:47 P.M. – 911 call of a pedestrian Hit & Run on the Sunchild First Nations Reserve. The adult female driver of the suspect vehicle was located and arrested for Impaired Driving after blowing a “Fail” on the roadside alcohol screening device. She became belligerent and refused to comply with the Breath Demand to provide further breath samples. Charges are pending. The victim was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
October 13
10:56 A.M. – Call of a home invasion and assault at a residence on the Sunchild First Nations Reserve. The suspect fled the residence and is being sought by police.
12:00 P.M.– Report of a DODGE Ram recovered in Red Deer after it had been stolen from a residence in Clearwater County on Range Road 6-2 & Twp Rd 42-0.
1:20 P.M. – 911 call of an assault & threats with a gun at a residence on the Sunchild First Nations Reserve. The suspects fled in a SUV but were located by police. A pursuit ensued around the Sunchild & O’Chiese First Nations Reserves. The suspects threw a sawed off shotgun and other items from the vehicle during the pursuit. The vehicle was eventually ditched and three adult female passengers were immediately arrested. The adult male driver fled into the woods but was apprehended with the assistance of the Red Deer Police Dog Services. They are all facing charges for numerous offences including “Robbery with a Firearm, Uttering Threats, Assault, Possession of a Prohibited Firearm, Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, Flight from Police, Dangerous operation of Motor Vehicle, Pointing a Firearm, Careless use of a Firearm, Possession of a Weapon Obtained by Crime, etc.”
October 14
8:44 A.M. – Call of a vehicle rummaged through overnight at a residence in RMH. Nothing was stolen.
2:26 P.M. – Report of a male suspect attempted to use a stolen credit card at a local RMH fast food restaurant.
3:11 P.M. – Attempted theft of a CHEVROLET pickup truck at a residence in Caroline. The door handle and ignition were damaged.
