Rocky RCMP are looking for man wanted in connection with a stabbing that took place last week.
On Feb 9, at approximately 8:00 p.m., Rocky Mountain House RCMP responded to a 911 call of a report of a man who had been stabbed.
Upon arrival, RCMP located a man who was suffering from what appeared to be serious injuries. The man was transported to hospital by STARS Air Ambulance.
The RCMP investigation indicates that the victim and suspect who had been travelling in the same vehicle, exited the vehicle when it pulled off of the highway. RCMP say an altercation occurred where the victim received serious injuries from what appears to be an edged weapon.
As a result of the investigation, charges have been laid against Michael Mackinaw, 38, of the O’Chiese First Nation. Mackinaw is charged with aggravated assault and two counts of fail to comply with a release order.
Mackinaw has also been charged in a separate investigation.
On Feb 8, RCMP investigated an incident where Mackinaw is alleged to have been driving a vehicle on the O’Chiese First Nation, where Mackinaw and the passenger had a verbal altercation. Mackinaw allegedly threatened the passenger with a weapon, The passenger who owned the vehicle was able to escape unharmed.
Mackinaw has been charged with assault with a weapon, possession of stolen property over $5000, and two counts of fail to comply with a release order.
Michael Mackinaw is described as 5’8″ tall, 241 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
