Sentencing is due to take place next month for a man charged in a homicide on the O’Chiese First Nation over two and a half years ago.
Lyle Jamie Bearspaw, 29, is scheduled to be sentenced in Red Deer Court of Queen’s Bench on June 2, 2022.
Bearspaw is charged in relation to a fatal shooting on the O’Chiese First Nation in 2020.
It was just after 8 p.m. on Aug. 27, 2020 when Rocky Mountain House RCMP received a 911 call about a firearms incident that had injured a male.
The victim, 23-year-old Troy Beaverbones, from O’Chiese was airlifted by STARS, but later died in hospital.
Bearspaw was arrested later that night and charged with second-degree murder, in addition to counts of break and enter, fail to appear, and breach of probation.
Bearspaw was previously scheduled for a jury trial in Red Deer from April 25-May 6, 2022.
