The court process continues to move ahead for two men charged with four counts of attempted murder on O’Chiese First Nation in April 2021.
It was about 5 p.m. on April 5 of last year when RCMP in Rocky Mountain House received a complaint about a male shot in a home in the Sunchild area.
A second report of a shooting came in a half hour later at the O’Chiese Marketplace, where police said a second male had reportedly been shot.
Just before 6 p.m., a third report of a shooting at a home was received — there, two men had apparently been shot.
Residents were advised to shelter in place as RCMP searched for the suspects. Meantime, four adult male victims, 18, 19, 20 and 34, were taken to hospital.
Keith Beaverbones, 28, and Zachary Yellowface, 19, both from O’Chiese, were eventually arrested thanks to help from Air Services and Police Dog Services.
They appeared in a Rocky Mountain House courtroom on June 16, 2022 for continuation of a preliminary hearing.
Zachary Yellowface was ordered to stand trial on 10 counts on June 17, 2022. No new court date however, has been set as of yet.
Keith Beaverbones, meantime, appeared in court again on June 23, 2022 for the continuation of a preliminary hearing. No new court date has been set yet for him either.
