Inside Education, Alberta’s largest environmental and natural resource education charity, is getting ready to host dynamic youth leadership experiences called the Generate and Navigate Youth Environmental Leadership Summit.
The Alberta-based non-profit provides support for K-12 school teachers across the province to work together toward a balanced and sustainable future for the environment, economy, and society.
Both the O’Chiese First Nation School and Sunchild First Nation School are among 20 Alberta-based high schools who have been selected to participate in the award-winning and in-person learning experience slated for March 16-19 in Canmore, Alberta.
Officials say at the Generate/Navigate Youth Summit, six students and two teachers from each school will experience science, technology, and innovations that will shape their futures. Officials add in addition to gaining lifelong memories with like-minded students and teachers, each team will participate in hands-on activities and collaborative workshops featuring experts from industry, government, academia, the non-government sector, youth and Indigenous leaders.
Upon completion of the summit, each school participating is expected to develop and deliver an education and action plan based on what they experienced at the Generate/Navigate Summit.
“The Generate and Navigate Summit will help develop the next generation of energy and environmental stewards and leaders. Students will meet with their peers from across Alberta, learning with and from a diverse group of experts, participating in exciting workshops—all with a sprinkling of fun mixed in. We are delighted to be back to in-person youth summits and cannot wait to meet everyone in March,” said Mila Mezei, Summit Co-Chair.
