The snow is about to arrive.
Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) has issued a special weather statement with snow expected over several parts of the province beginning tonight.
Snow will develop over west-central Alberta tonight and move towards the east and south on Monday, ECCC says. Snowfall amounts will vary greatly across the province due to initially warm ground temperatures and the duration of snowfall over some regions.
Central Alberta: Timing: Snow will begin tonight and end by Tuesday morning. Total snowfall amounts: 2 to 5 cm.
Southern Alberta: Timing: Snow will begin on Monday and end by Tuesday evening. Total snowfall amounts: 5 to 15 cm Higher amounts are possible along the eastern slopes of the Rocky Mountains and in the mountain parks.
Precipitation for communities near the international border will initially fall as rain and will transition to snow Tuesday night, the weather statement adds.
Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop.
