A program aimed at helping business owners improve the appearance of their buildings is being expanded in Rocky Mountain House.
The Storefront Improvement Program, first launched in 2012, originally offered a one-time matching grant to business and property owners in the downtown commercial area to assist with renovations.
Mayor Debbie Baich says the program is now open to all commercial businesses in the town, including those outside the original revitalization zone.
“Now we’ve opened up the program to include any commercial business — if you have a business in the industrial area, if you have a business that was outside that [original] business revitalization zone, now this grant program is opened up to you,” Baich said.
The town will now provide up to $5,000 for eligible storefront upgrades. Baich says businesses that spend more than $10,000 on improvements such as painting, signage and trim may qualify for the full grant amount, provided they meet the program’s criteria.
