RCMP are addressing a large police presence in Rocky Mountain House’s Riverside Park over the weekend.
Cpl. Troy Savinkoff with Alberta RCMP confirms a deceased person was found inside an outhouse at the park on Friday, May 10. Officers responded to the area around 11:55 a.m, and upon arrival, they located a deceased male.
The body has been transported to the office of the Chief Medical Examiner and an autopsy has been scheduled, says Savinkoff, though he adds the death does not appear to be suspicious.
Town of Rocky Mountain House officials say they were aware of the police presence in the area over the weekend.
RCMP officials say officers were present at the scene at various points over the weekend, but add that the police presence is no longer.
Following a closure over the weekend, Town officials say the outhouse facility is once again open to the public.
