Participants can choose a three, five or 10 kilometre walk for this year’s Compassionate Care Hospice Society (CCHS) Walk For Hospice taking place June 1 at the Rocky Regional Recreation Centre.
Melissa Drake, marketing coordinator for CCHS, says the organization’s mission is to provide professional, end-of-life care to all residents of Clearwater County.
Drake says the organization’s hospice suite is made available free of charge to residents and their families along with bereavement services.
The suite is located in Rocky Mountain House inside the Good Samaritan Society Centre (5615 60 St).
Among the organization’s key fundraising events of the year, the Walk For Hospice will begin a 9:30 a.m. on Saturday June 1, and continue along walking trails within Rocky Mountain House.
“It is our biggest fundraiser of the year,” says Drake. “We’ve been doing it for about five years now, and our community really comes together for this event.”
Drake says registration is $30 for adults and $15 for youth. Registration includes lunch.
Drake also notes there will be a 50/50 draw and silent auction items up for bid.
Teams and individuals are also encouraged to dress up in their most fun, outrageous costumes for the walk as there will be prizes for best-dressed, says Drake.
Registration goes until Friday, May 24.
Those interested can message Compassionate Care Hospice Society on Facebook, or e-mail cchs.marketingcoordinator@gmail.com to get registered.
