The Rocky Museum (5406, 48 St.) is shifting into summer hours so locals and tourists alike can learn about the history of the region.
Manager of the Rocky Museum, Jean-Marie Mason, says the summer hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday, Saturday, Sunday and holidays 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Mason says along with many exhibits inside the museum, visitors can enjoy special event programming throughout the summer season.
“Saturday May 25 is our Museum Day open house,” says Mason. “We have live demonstrations. There’s a blacksmith coming from Lacombe. We have rope making, spinners demonstrating their craft, Sarah, our in-house weaver and some fun crafts for kids to try.”
Mason says the museum will also be holding a pancake breakfast in the back yard July 1. Along with pancakes, sausages and scrambled eggs, Mason says the morning will also feature live music.
For first-time visitors, Mason says they should expect to see exhibits that reflect the rich history of the region. That includes an old-time general store and schoolhouse display, histories of the local forestry and lumber industry, and brand boards from the old Cole’s Auction Mart.
Admission for the museum:
- $7 for adults
- $5 for seniors, university students and military service members
