A flagpole in front of Rocky Mountain House town office has been taken down after a defect was identified.
In mid-June, Town officials say a manager noticed a weak spot during a routine flag change. The manager then contacted the manufacturer who recommended removing the flag until the pole could be assessed and repaired.
An official says the Town ultimately decided to remove the pole on June 20 to avoid any risk of it toppling over.
Luckily, says the official, the pole is still under warranty as it is still relatively new. The pole has been sent away for warranty work, and is expected to be returned soon to fly in front of town office for many years to come, says the official.
The five-pole flag array was installed in 2021.
