Plenty of fun activities for those of all ages are planned during Canada Day celebrations in Rocky Mountain House.
The celebrations, which take place Monday, July 1 at the Rocky Mountain House National Historic Site, will feature many family-oriented events throughout the day, say organizers, including:
- face painting
- wagon rides
- bouncy castle
- crib tournament
- toonie carnival games
- axe throwing (18+)
- car show
- lawn games
- 4H canine showcase
- ag Olympics
- artisan market
Organizers say the activities are designed to celebrate Canada’s heritage.
Additionally, organizers say the day will feature musical entertainment throughout the afternoon from local musicians as well as from Ed Peekeekoot, a Metis multi-instrumentalist and storyteller.
The celebrations will happen from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Visitors and locals alike are also invited to return to North Saskatchewan River Park in the evening for a Canada Day Fireworks display at 11:30 p.m., say organizers.

12:30 to 1:15 p.m. – ROCKY WHIRLAWAYS (Square Dancing)
1:30 to 2:30 p.m. – OPENING CEREMONIES (Elder Prayer – Indigenous Drummers – Dignitary Address – Oh Canada)
2:30 to 4:00 p.m. – ED PEEKEEKOOT (Metis Performer)
4:15 to 5:00 p.m. – GARDEN VARIETY ROCKSTARS (Family Band)
5:15 to 6:00 p.m. – GINGER SNAP (Local Band)
