For the second year in a row, Clearwater County is bringing a special Canada Day celebration to Nordegg.
Officials say everyone is welcome to make the trip to enjoy a free afternoon of great BBQ food, games and prizes for kids, face painting and a water balloon fight at 2 p.m.
Whitney Wedman, heritage and cultural programs coordinator with Clearwater County says the inaugural event one year ago was so popular with locals and visitors alike, they nearly ran out of food. They’re prepared for more this year, though,
Wedman adds, the Canada Day celebration is also a good opportunity to explore other attractions within the community, such as mine tours and the new ‘Among Clear Waters: Stories of This Place’ exhibit at the Nordegg Discovery Centre.

“We do expect it to be busy, if people do want to book a tour, we do suggest to call in advance and book as soon as they can,” says Wedman.

To book, call the Nordegg Discovery Centre at 403-721-2625 (COAL).
“It’s a great opportunity to come out and check out what we have here, and to learn a little about the history of Nordegg and Clearwater County.” says Wedman.
The BBQ starts at 12 p.m. on July 1.
