Amid record breaking heat for the Rocky Mountain House area this week, the Family Resource Network is coming to the rescue by providing a free slip ‘n slide for families.
Organizers say the slide will be set up at Four Seasons Park in Rocky Mountain House (5918 54 St) from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Family Facilitator with the Family Resource Network, Dana Dennis says the event is somewhat spontaneous.
“It’s something that we can’t plan ahead, we saw that the heat wave was in the forecast, and we just jumped at the opportunity,” said Dennis.
Dennis says the organization did the slip ‘n slide for the first time in 2023, and had a strong turnout with over 100 people in attendance.
The Family Resource Network provides programming for those 0 to 18, says Dennis, as well as parent education programs at locations all across central Alberta, including its Rocky Mountain House location.
Other summer programs include summer day camps, as well as a planned day of fun and education at the Rocky Mountain House National Historic Site in concert with Parks Canada and the Confluence Heritage Society, says Dennis.
