A suite of improvements to better direct tourists in Leslieville are currently being considered by Clearwater County.
Among the proposed improvements is signage to direct visitors to hamlet amenities, such as the Leslieville recreation area, says Amanda Soppit, community and recreation coordinator with Clearwater County.
Signs would not only direct visitors to the park located near David Thompson High School, says Soppit, but also to another currently under-construction park and playground in the heart of the hamlet.
Soppit says the County has the playground equipment ordered and is projecting contractors will start work on it in September. The playground will be for 18 months to five-year-olds.

Another proposed improvement is an information kiosk which would provide locals and tourists alike with information on the happenings around Leslieville.
“I would envision it looking like something similar to Crimson Lake where they have kiosks all around the trail,” says Soppit. “It would be a a community hub to have a look at what’s going on in Leslieville.”
The kiosk would likely be located in the Leslieville Recreation Area or the new community green space.
While it’s early in the development stage, Soppit says the County will be gathering information from residents and local businesses to ensure the eventual rollout of the amenities goes off without a hitch.
During the summer months, Soppit says the County is busy with a few small projects around the hamlet, such as installing more benches and picnic tables at the Leslieville Recreation Area.
