Rainfall in the early part of August, as well as diminished wildfire activity in the region have allowed officials to lift fire bans and re-open recreation areas in the West County region.
According to government sources, there are currently no fire restrictions for Clearwater County.
A fire ban that was previously in place for the town of Rocky Mountain House has also been lifted.
Additionally, the wetter weather has allowed Alberta Parks officials to announce the reopening of several West County recreation areas.
- Crescent Falls Provincial Recreation Area
- Ram Falls Provincial Recreation Area
- Aylmer
- Elk Creek
- Elk Creek Fish Pond
- Peppers Lake Provincial Recreation Areas
However, Alberta Parks officials say Hwy. 40 (Forestry Trunk Rd.) north of Ram River Provincial Park remains closed due to continuing wildfire activity in the region.
