One person has died in a motor-vehicle collision near Drayton Valley.
Breton RCMP say it was about 7:17 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 16 when they received a report of a serious crash involving a Ford Escape and a Kenworth Construct Dual Tanker.
The crash occurred south of the intersection of Hwy 22 and Township Road 452, near Alder Flats. That’s about 33 km south of Drayton Valley and 57 km north of Rocky Mountain House.
The 47-year-old female driver of the Ford Escape was pronounced deceased at the scene, while the 15-year-old passenger of the Escape was taken to a local medical facility to be further assessed for injuries.
The 82-year-old male driver of the Kenworth truck had minor injuries.
Although the collision remains under investigation, Breton RCMP’s preliminary investigation indicates the Ford Escape was heading southbound on Highway 22 when it crossed the centre-line and collided with the northbound Kenworth tanker.
Alberta RCMP wish to extend their condolences to the friends and family of the deceased.
