The final 2024 Marketplace on Main in Rocky Mountain House is set to go out on a high note on Aug. 29, with a very special guest appearance.
Along with the usual stellar lineup of vendors, entertainment and food, organizers say local Elvis impersonator Jim Schbwe is set to entertain market goers for the last hurrah of the season.
Schbwe has been impersonating the King of Rock ‘n Roll for decades, says Jeff Hartling, economic development officer for the Town of Rocky Mountain House, and is excited to bring his act to the market.
Organizers of the 2024 Marketplace on Main season say it’s been a great summer- especially when the weather cooperated.
The season got off to a soggy start, as the planned opening day on June 27 was cancelled due to downpour-style rainfall, but it was all systems go after that.
On a sunny Thursday evening, thousands of people would descend on Main St. Rocky Mountain House for the market, says Hartling.

Hartling says a highlight of the summer for him was witnessing the high level of engagement between market goers and the vendors and the relationships that were forged.
As the market gets set to finish for another year, Hartling is beginning to look to the fall and winter seasons.
“We have lots of little projects on the go, I want to keep that a quiet at the moment, but we have lots of things happening here,” says Harting.
Town officials are also inviting market goers to the grand re-opening of the nearby tennis courts, which will be happening at the same time.
