Visitors to the Leslieville Recreation Area will notice several new benches, a picnic table, and fresh pavement at the fledgling site.
Matt Martinson, director of agricultural services for Clearwater County, says the new amenities are sitting atop concrete pads that were installed in mid to late August.
The site also includes earlier-constructed ball diamonds and a playground.
All of the work is in preparation for an official spring 2025 opening, says Martinson.
He adds much of the work is finished, but plans are in the works to add garbage cans, seed more grass and plant trees.
Additionally, ‘Leslieville Recreation Area’ isn’t the official name for the park, says Martinson, as the park will receive a more appropriate name down the road.
“‘Leslieville Recreation Area’ is more of a description of what it is more than a name,” he says.
The County will be working with community members to come up with an official name for the park ahead of a 2025 opening date.
Clearwater County is also busy working on another project closer to the downtown, shares Martinson.

A mid-September date has been tapped to install a playground structure at the site.
Community members are invited to provide feedback on what they’d like to see at the green space at the upcoming Leslieville block party celebration on Sept. 7.
