In what proved to be a gorgeous West Country weekend, both the Rocky Mountain House and Sundre areas broke heat records that had stood for decades.
On Sept 8, Environment & Climate Change Canada (ECCC) reported the temperature reached 29.1 degrees Celsius in Rocky Mountain House, beating the old same-day record of 28.9 degrees Celsius set back in 1981.
Records in the Rocky area have been kept since 1915.
In Sundre, ECCC data shows it got as warm as 29.8 degrees Celsius, easily beating the old record of 26.9 degrees Celsius set in 2011.
Records in the Sundre area been kept since 1993.
