The Town of Rocky Mountain House will be exploring the possibility of installing a frisbee golf course within the community.
With budget deliberations just around the corner, Councillor Dave Auld made a motion during the Sept. 17 regular council meeting, for the Town to investigate feasible locations to install a frisbee golf course, and prepare a report to be brought back to council.
“I love seeing activities in town that we can provide to our residents, are family-friendly and still be able to do it at a very minimal cost,” says Auld.
Auld mentions he recently travelled to Nordegg to tour its recently installed frisbee golf course.
He adds, the Nordegg course seemed to be very well received by visitors, and was lined up with patrons ready to play a round.
The project would come in at a relatively low expense, predicted Auld.
Coun. Len Phillips was in favour of the idea.
“Anytime we can get any type of recreational activities for the public to do (is a good thing),” says Phillips. “This one seems like it should be a relatively inexpensive thing to accomplish.”
Auld adds, the greater challenge may very well be finding a suitable location in town as opposed to getting it put into a future budget.
Council will revisit the motion at a future meeting.
