The Leslieville Community Centre will be hosting a Halloween-themed ‘Haunted Hall of Horrors’ fundraiser Nov. 1-2.
Organizers say it will feature the more family-friendly ‘tiny terrors’ for the younger groups starting at 5:30 p.m., with ‘big frights’ for older audiences from 7:30-9:30 p.m.
The event will be extra spooky, as the Confluence Heritage Society has lent out 15 totes of decorations, props and scary figures, says Melissa Wright, board member with the Leslieville Community Centre.
Admission is a cash donation of $10 at the door with those six and under admitted free.
Wright advises that folks be prepared as the event will be a combination of indoor and outdoor terrain, and to dress accordingly for the weather.
Also, Wright advises that the big scare is not suitable for those under 13.
The event will be part of ongoing efforts to raise funds to bring the hall up to code so it can continue to hold a valid occupancy permit, says Wright.
The hall is in need of necessary renovations, she says, and is hoping the fundraiser will put a dent in the financial requirement to remain compliant.
Without it, the hall is at risk risk of losing its permit and being forced to close, she says.
The Leslieville Community Centre has been an integral part of the community since 1921, says Wright, and has been the scene of countless gatherings, weddings, meetings and funerals throughout the years.
The Centre is currently planning its annual Kids Christmas Party which is scheduled for December 8.
