A favorite West Country Christmastime event returns for another year.
On December 8, the annual Children’s Christmas Party returns to the Leslieville Community Centre.
The event will feature a wide range of activities for children, including crafts, colouring table, glitter tattoos, face painting, as well as ornament and cookie decorating.
Santa will be making an appearance, and entertainment will be provided by magician Christopher Cool.
The event has been happening for well over a decade, say organizers.
Organizer Melissa Wright hopes to see a good turnout from far and wide.
“You don’t have to be from Leslieville to attend,” says Wright. “This is a free event for families to attend, and we love hosting it every year.”
The event goes from 1-4 p.m.
The free event will be something of a pause to ongoing effort to raise $400,000 for the hall. Earlier in the year, it was identified that hall required extensive retrofits to be compliant with occupancy regulations. Without them, Wright says the hall could be in danger of closing down.
So far in 2024, Wright says roughly $30,000 of that has been raised.
Wright says fundraising events are being planned for 2025, such as a 90s-themed dance party in February, and a community cook book.
If anyone has any recipes they’d like to contribute to the cook book, they can e-mail leslievillecommunitycenter@gmail.com.
