Councillor Gennifer Mehlhaff was sworn in as deputy reeve of Clearwater County at their regular council meeting on Nov. 26, 2024.
Councillor Mehlhaff was among two councillors nominated for the position. The second was Councillor Bryan Cermak.
After a secret ballot, Mehlhaff was named deputy reeve and she proceeded to take the official oath.
Former deputy reeve and councillor for Division 2, Sydney Graham, tendered her resignation on Nov. 17, 2024.
In her resignation letter, Graham cited health issues and pressure from balancing her health and council duties as a reason for resigning.

Officials say there will be no byelection.
Following a discussion at the Nov. 26 council meeting, council determined that the Division 2 seat will remain vacant until the next municipal election in October of 2025.
In the absence of its Division 2 representative, county officials say residents are encouraged to contact any of the six councillors who are committed and ready to address their concerns.
Mehlhaff previously served as deputy reeve from October 2023 to October 2024 .
