The Rocky Rams picked up two points during a critical three-game stretch between Dec. 20-22.
The busy slate saw the team defeat the Mountainview Colts in front of a hometown crowd on Saturday, but lose to Sylvan Lake and Three Hills on separate occasions.
December 20
The Rams got out to a quick 1-0 lead in the first. However, the Wranglers scored four unanswered in the second frame on route to a 5-2 victory.
December 21
Back in front of hometown fans, the Rams erased a 3-1, second period deficit to beat the Mountainview Colts 4-3.
Reid Christiansen scored a pair of goals, including the game tying goal and the OT winner.
Rocky goalie Cole McLean had a standout performance, making 41 saves with a 0.932 save percentage.
December 22
It was another heartbreaker for the team in a make-up game against Three Hills that was originally scheduled for Nov. 23.
The Rams ended the second period with a two goal deficit against the Thrashers.
Graedy Landry, Keagan Landry and Cooper Lawrence all scored within the first ten minutes of the third in an effort to tie the game.
However, a would-be comeback was spoiled with less than a minute of regulation play, as Thrashers forward Bryce Fenton scored a powerplay goal, which was also the eventual game winning goal.
Final score: 6-5 Three Hills.
Done until the New Year
After the weekend, the Rams are sixth place in the HJHL’s Northern Division, five points back of fifth place Three Hills.
The team will go on holiday break to return in the New Year with a three-game home stand.
