A temporary closure is occurring at the Rocky Mountain House emergency room Monday night.
The closure will be in place from 6 p.m. tonight until 7 a.m. tomorrow.
This is due to a clinical personnel shortage and inability to secure temporary coverage, AHS says.
During this time, nursing staff will remain on-site in the emergency department assisting in redirecting/referring patients to alternate emergency departments in neighbouring communities, or other appropriate levels of service, as needed,” AHS notes.
“Patients are asked to call 911 if they have a medical emergency during these times. EMS will remain available to the community and will be re-routed to surrounding facilities, including Myron Thompson Health Centre in Sundre, Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre, Drayton Valley Hospital and Care Centre, and Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre.”
Community members are reminded to call Health Link at 811, which is available 24/7, for non-emergency, health-related questions.
