With a federal election expected soon, the boundaries of the Yellowhead riding will change with it.
According to new boundary maps, the already sprawling Yellowhead constituency will expand even further south, now encompassing Sundre, which is currently part of Red Deer-Mountain View.
Ultimately, the new district will stretch from north of Grande Cache, all the way south to the largely urban Airdrie-Cochrane constituency.
Other central Alberta districts will see maps redrawn as well, as the current Red Deer-Lacombe and Red Deer-Mountain View districts will dissolve into Red Deer and Ponoka-Didsbury.
Every 10 years, Elections Canada adjusts the electoral boundaries to account for population growth, according to a post on Soroka’s Facebook page.

The town of Rocky Mountain House was added to the newly redrawn district in 2012, which also includes Jasper, Edson, Canmore, Crossfield and Carstairs.
