The Community Foundation of Central Alberta (CFCAB) is hosting one of its Community Tour events in Rocky Mountain House on April 8, inviting local residents to engage in conversations that aim to shape the future of the communities— and to apply for grants of up to $1500.
Organizers say the goal of the initiative is simple: to connect with people who are passionate about their communities. Recognizing that each community has its own unique strengths, challenges, and aspirations, CFCAB is eager to listen and learn from local residents.
In addition to the opportunity for residents to share their insights, CFCAB will be awarding small grants to organizations and projects based in towns on the tour. Grant applications are currently open and will be accepted for initiatives in Rocky Mountain House and other communities CFCAB is visiting. These grants are designed to fund programs or projects that will help support community development.
During the event, CFCAB will present small grants to local organizations, but it’s not just about the funding. The foundation also hopes to foster open dialogue, allowing residents to share their thoughts on the needs and desires of their community. This will help the foundation understand how best to support each town—whether through funding for charitable organizations, facilitating collaborations among local groups, or helping create lasting funds that can provide support for generations to come.
While learning about CFCAB, participants are invited to enjoying some snacks at the event.
Eligible grant applicants must be qualified donees as defined by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), or they can apply in partnership with an eligible organization. Grant amounts will range from $500 to $1,500, and the application deadline is April 2 at 4 p.m. Click here to apply.
Along with Rocky, the CFCAB tour will stop in Big Valley, Blackfalds, Elnora, Innisfail, Lacombe, Olds, Penhold, Stettler, and Sylvan Lake.
Registration for the event is free, and a link can be found here.
The event runs Tuesday April 8 at the Rocky Museum (5406 48 St, Rocky Mountain House).
