Residents of Rocky Mountain House are being advised of a temporary closure on a stretch of the town’s multi-use trail east of the Hwy. 11 corridor.
Starting Monday, April 7, a section of the trail running east-west along Highway 598, east of 43 Street, will be closed for up to two weeks while crews carry out work to install new power lines in the area.
Laura Button, communications coordinator with the Town of Rocky Mountain House, clarified that the trail closure is part of a larger infrastructure project not directly overseen by the town. “We’re just the messenger on this one – the power line work is not our project,” Button said.
Button adds, there will be no designated detours for pedestrians during the closure, except for the road.
“We encourage people to recreate elsewhere while the work is ongoing,” Button says in a statement.
The closure is expected to last for approximately two weeks, and residents will be informed if there are any changes to the timeline.
