The emergency department at Rocky Mountain House Health Centre will be temporarily closed from noon April 14 until 7 a.m. April 15 due to an unexpected gap in physician coverage.
Alberta Health Services (AHS) says nursing staff will remain on-site during the closure to assess and support patients. Depending on their condition, patients may be referred to other healthcare facilities in nearby communities. EMS will be available to provide transportation if needed.
AHS is advising anyone experiencing a medical emergency to call 911. For non-emergency health concerns, residents are encouraged to contact their family physician or call Health Link at 811, which is available 24/7.
Officials say other services at the health centre are not affected by the closure.
If locum physician coverage becomes available, emergency services may resume earlier than scheduled. AHS says the community will be notified if that occurs.
The organization thanks local healthcare partners and the community for their patience and understanding.
