Dr. Kathleen Finnigan is no longer superintendent with Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools (RDCRS), the division confirmed Tuesday.
The division says Finnigan has decided to “retire effective immediately.”
Finnigan started with RDCRS in October 2020, and she will be replaced, at least on an acting basis, by current associate superintendent Ryan Ledene.
“Mr. Ledene has been with Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools since 1998 and has served as a teacher, vice principal, and principal before joining the division’s senior administration team as an associate superintendent in 2012,” the board of trustees says in a statement Tuesday.
“His most recent portfolio, System Services, included management of the division’s facilities and transportation departments. Previous associate superintendent portfolios include faith development & division support, and human resources.”
Ledene holds a Bachelor of Education from the University of Alberta, as well as a Master of Religious Education and Graduate Certificate in Catholic School Administration from Newman Theological College.
“Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools graciously thanks Dr. Finnigan for her years of service to our division and wishes her well in her future endeavours,” the board added.
