Local business owners can expect a knock on their doors next week, as representatives from the Town of Rocky Mountain House set out to gather valuable feedback during the community’s first large-scale Business Walk.
Set for Tuesday, May 27 from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., the initiative will see town council members, Economic Development Officer Jeff Hartling, and representatives from Community Futures Central Alberta visiting businesses in the downtown core and along the Highway 11 corridor.
“It’s really about connecting with our businesses and getting a better understanding of the economic pulse in Rocky Mountain House,” said Hartling. “We want to learn where our businesses are at, what challenges they may be facing, and how the town can support them going forward.”
During the walk, business owners will be invited to answer a short questionnaire aimed at gathering insight into their operations, staffing, long-term plans, and any ideas or concerns they may have about doing business in the community. Hartling says the information will help guide future economic development efforts and improve the town’s responsiveness to business needs.
“This is the first time we’ve done something of this calibre,” Hartling said. “It’s a really valuable opportunity for both council and administration to listen directly to our local entrepreneurs.”
While the focus for this first walk is the central business district and highway corridor, Hartling said there are plans to visit the light industrial area at a later date.
“We’re hoping to connect with as many business owners, operators, and managers as we can. The more conversations we have, the better understanding we’ll have of what’s working and where there’s room to improve.”
