A fundraising auction is set to kick off to help furnish the new Rocky Medical Clinic and Primary Care Network building currently under construction on the east end of town.
The online auction, organized and hosted free of charge by Olds Auctions, features more than 35 lots ranging from $25 gift certificates to a $4,000 garden tractor. Items have been donated by residents, businesses and organizations across Rocky Mountain House, Clearwater County and as far as Cremona and Water Valley.
Clinic manager Kristin Penick says proceeds from the auction will go directly toward the $1.9 million fundraising goal set to complete the community-owned clinic, which includes purchasing essential medical equipment.
“We’ve got everything from Domino’s gift cards to barbecue meat boxes from Caroline Meats, snowblowers, archery lessons and even mattresses and gun cases,” says Penick. “There’s really something for everyone.”
The new, barrier-free facility is expected to be a vast improvement over the aging existing clinic on 49 Street. The single-story building will include wider hallways, modern exam rooms and improved accessibility features for both patients and staff. Penick says it will better serve the mobility needs of the region’s aging population and those using assistive devices.

Penick says construction on the new clinic is progressing after several delays over the winter, including equipment hold-ups at the border that stalled concrete pouring. The facility is now slated to open in September. Penick says floors will be poured within the next week, with a first interior walkthrough scheduled for June 2.
The online auction officially opens for bidding on Tuesday, June 17 at 9 a.m. and will close the following evening, Wednesday, June 18, beginning at 7 p.m. Bidders can already view the auction catalogue online, with new items being added daily until the end of this week.
Though there is no set fundraising goal for the auction, Penick says every dollar helps chip away at the larger $1.9 million fundraising goal, which includes leasehold improvements and medical equipment such as beds, chairs, blood pressure cuffs and exam room lighting.
“We’re still a long way from the overall goal,” she said.
The new facility will house both the Rocky Medical Clinic and the Primary Care Network (PCN), along with other local health services. Officials say bringing the two organizations under one roof will make it easier for patients to access integrated care.
