The Sundre area blew past its heat record for May 26 on Monday.
According to Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), Sundre got up to 27.7 degrees Celsius, a full five degrees higher than the previous record of 22.7 set in 2018.
Records in the area have been kept since 1993.
Northern Alberta was the hottest region, with Fort Chipewan reaching 32.7 degrees Celsius— edging out the old record of 32 set in 1986. A full list of weather summaries can be found here.
