This is a candidate profile for Daryl Lougheed, who is running in Clearwater County’s Ward 3.
Please provide a little background on yourself, including how long you’ve lived in the area.
My name is Daryl Lougheed, and I’m asking once again for your support as I seek re-election as Councillor for Ward 3.
As a fourth-generation farmer from Condor, I’ve spent my life rooted in this community. I bring with me 46 years of public service experience and have had the honour of serving two terms as your Ward 3 Clearwater County Councillor. I’m now seeking a third term because I believe there is still important work to be done—together.
Why do you want to run for council?
My focus continues to be on agriculture, community, and economic development.
Agriculture is at the heart of our way of life. The family farm represents responsibility, resilience, and a deep connection to the land. I will continue to stand up for farmers and rural families, working to ensure this way of life is protected for future generations.
Community matters. I believe stronger communities create better opportunities—whether in education, recreation, or emergency services. I’ve worked closely with the Town of Rocky and neighbouring municipalities to build shared services that work for all of us, and I will continue that collaboration.
Economic development is essential to our long-term success. We need smart, forward-thinking growth. By improving infrastructure and connectivity, advocating for our region, and planning ahead, we can create local jobs and give our young people a reason to build their future right here at home.
What personal or professional experience do you feel would make you a good councillor?
I bring proven leadership, a practical approach to problem-solving, and deep roots in Ward 3. I’ve worked with others to achieve what once seemed too big or too difficult, and I remain committed to listening, advocating, and delivering for our community.
Where can people learn more about you and your priorities?
I plan to attend the 3 forums that have been scheduled so far.
I would enjoy constructive conversations with anyone, who had given thought to our region’s future.
Is there anything else you’d like to add?
On Election Day, I would be honoured to have your vote. You can find me on Facebook or call 403-357-4859.
Ward 3 is on the east end of the county, running along the Highway 11 corridor to the Lacombe County border. It includes the communities of Condor, Evergreen, and Alhambra.
