Almost as soon as it began, election campaigns in the Town of Rocky Mountain House and Clearwater County are coming to a close.
Residents in both the town and county will vote on general election day, Oct. 20.
ROCKY MOUNTAIN HOUSE
In Rocky Mountain House, 14 people are running for elected office.
For council, 12 people are running. That includes four incumbents (Dale Shippelt, Marley Capraro, Ken Moesker, Tina Hutchinson) and eight newcomers (Marc Mundell, Justin Sinclair, Gordon Majeran, Sarah Fotty, Trevor Kayln, Kevin Stalker, Denise Boniface, Bill Tompkins) — for six council spots.
In the mayoral race, former councillor Shane Boniface will be challenging two-term councillor Len Phillips, who has been the town’s acting mayor since 2024.
Rocky residents have one more chance to cast an advance ballot, Saturday Oct. 18 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Lou Soppit Community Centre.
On election day, voters can cast their ballots at the Lou Soppit Community Centre from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
To be eligible to vote, residents must be at least 18-years-old on Oct. 20, be a Canadian citizen, and reside in the municipality where they plan to vote. Proof of identity and current residence is required to be able to vote in municipal elections.
Unofficial results are expected Monday evening, with official results expected by Friday Oct. 24.

CLEARWATER COUNTY
In Clearwater County, voting hours on Oct. 20 will run from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Eligible voters must vote at the polling station designated for their ward.
Voters must provide the required proof of eligibility as required by Section 53 of the Local Authorities Election Act which includes one piece of identification issued by a Canadian government.

(Clearwater County)
In Ward 1, incumbent Gennifer Mehlhaff and Breanne Powell are running.
Hazen Letwin and Cammie Laird are running in Ward 2.
In Ward 3, Leona Bertagnolli and Drew McKay are running alongside incumbent Daryl Lougheed.
Incumbent Jordon Northcott is running alongside Deborah Skeels and John Vandermeer in Ward 4.
In the northwest end of the county, Ward 5 candidates Tyler McCauley, James Cuthill, Jamie Gallagher will be running alonside incumbent Neil Ratcliffe.
On the south end of the county, Ward 6 candidates Ashley Perepelkin, William Davies, Brenda Barker, Russell Barnett and incumbent Bryan Cermak are running.
And in Ward 7, it’s a two-person race between Lorne Humphrey and incumbent Michelle Swanson.
