The wildfire danger in the Rocky Mountain House Forest Area has been downgraded to low, following recent rainfall and cooler temperatures.
Alberta Wildfire officials say that while the risk has eased, dry, windy weather could quickly push conditions back into the moderate or high range.
A fire advisory remains in effect for both the town of Rocky Mountain House and the surrounding forest protection area. The advisory allows existing fire permits to remain valid, but extension requests may be denied. New permits are being issued on a case-by-case basis for essential burning only.
Safe wood campfires are allowed on both public and private land.
No fire restrictions are in place for Clearwater County east of Rocky Mountain House.
There are currently no active wildfires in the forest area. Since Jan. 1, 77 wildfires have burned nearly 122 hectares.
