Nominations are still open for the Mountain View and Neighbours’ Women in Business Awards, and a local leader is encouraging residents to recognize a Clearwater County difference-maker.
Now in its third year, the awards recognize female business leaders across Mountain View, Kneehill and Clearwater counties, as well as surrounding towns and villages.
Clearwater County Reeve Jordon Northcott says the awards are important because opportunities to formally recognize the work of deserving women don’t come around often.
“In the past, there haven’t been enough people truly recognized for the work they do in the community,” says Northcott. “This event recognizes women, and there are so many who do so much.”
Northcott says women make significant contributions across the county every day, whether in trades, agriculture, business or community leadership. He encourages residents to nominate anyone they feel is deserving.

Nominations can be submitted in several categories, including business, agriculture, energy and community leadership.
New this year is the Rising Star category, which recognizes future leaders.
“The Rising Star category pertains to youth 17 and under,” Northcott explains. “It recognizes women and girls for innovation, community spirit and those who go above and beyond for the communities they live in.”
A delegation from the awards gala, including sponsorship co-ordinator Debora Rice-Salomons, is scheduled to appear before Clearwater County council on Feb. 10.
Rice-Salomons says the event coincides with the 115th International Women’s Day on March 8.
Northcott, who plans to attend the 2026 event, says last year’s gala drew more than 250 people, including provincial ministers, federal MPs and mayors and reeves from across the three counties.
