Eckville Legion Branch 156 will join legions across Canada in celebrating its 100th anniversary March 6.
To mark the occasion, the community will host an open house in the legion lounge, inviting residents to come together and share memories from the past century.
Organizers say a legion- or military-themed speed puzzling event hosted by Puzzle Quest will also be held.
The group has been hosting speed puzzling events across Alberta, where competitors race to complete 300, 500, 750 and 1,000-piece puzzles.
Those who would like to register for the puzzling event can find the link on the Legion’s Facebook page.

Janeil Humphrey, president of Eckville Legion Branch 156, said the March 6 event will kick off a year of centennial celebrations.
Ideas for future events include a float in the Eckville parade.
She added the anniversary also serves as an opportunity for residents to join their local Legion, as many branches are seeing declining membership.
“There’s been interest in having the lounge open more often for crib tournaments, darts or pool, but we need more volunteers for that,” Humphrey said.
More Legion members mean more community events, she said.
Those who are interested in signing up can visit with the Legion’s website.
Legions across Canada serve veterans of the Canadian Armed Forces and the RCMP and their families, promote remembrance and support their communities.
The Legion was founded July 17, 1926, by a special act of Parliament, a date now recognized as its anniversary.
Humphrey added residents do not need to be members to attend the March 6 celebrations.
