The Town of Rocky Mountain House has closed its outdoor skating oval and rink for the season.

Officials say the decision was made in the interest of public safety due to deteriorating ice conditions.

Thanks to unseasonably warm temperatures, the rink was also temporarily closed for a number of days back in January.

The outdoor rink first opened just before Christmas, marking another full winter season for local skaters.
