Clearwater County is now accepting applications for its dust suppression program.
The program offers cost sharing for the application of calcium chloride to reduce dust on rural roads.
Calcium chloride, which includes a corrosion inhibitor additive, is the sole option available for dust control under the program.
The county will apply dust suppression of up to 150 metres (500 feet) in front of a property located along a municipal road. The total cost for one application is $1,016.16, with half of that amount covered by the county and the other half by the property owner. There is an additional charge of $6.77 per metre plus GST for any extra distance.
The dust suppression warranty will be effective from the day the application is made until September 30 of the same year. Clearwater County official also say it retains the right to perform maintenance on the dust suppression as needed.
To apply, residents can visit the main administration office in Rocky Mountain House or the Caroline administration office at 5004 50 Avenue.
The program is open to residents, farmers, and business owners until May 31, 2026. For more details or to apply, click here.
Please note, the contract will not automatically renew each year, and full payment is required prior to the application of dust suppression.
