Two local fire bans have been lifted in the West Country following significant rainfall and favourable weather forecasts, according to provincial and municipal officials.
As of Monday afternoon, May 12, fire bans were lifted in the non-Forest Protection Area (FPA) of Clearwater County (east end) and within the Town of Rocky Mountain House.
Clearwater County lifted its ban at 1:00 p.m., citing improved weather conditions and a reduced wildfire risk. An hour later, at 2:00 p.m., the town of Rocky Mountain House followed suit, also crediting the rain and improved forecasts.
However, officials stress that fire restrictions remain in place within the Rocky Mountain House Forest Protection Area. Residents are urged to check updated fire ban statuses regularly and adhere to current regulations.
