Rocky residents can hear about the “preferred plan” to twin Highway 11 through town limits during an upcoming open house hosted by Alberta Transportation & Economic Corridors on May 28.
Along with a look at the plan, the open house will present findings from a previous open house held November 2024, which sought public input on the project. It’ll also recap previous studies on the project, which has been discussed as far back as 2003.

Previously, the government said the study would not consider a Highway 11 by-pass around Rocky Mountain House.
The project is not currently on the provincial construction program, as officials say a fulsome study must first be completed.
Additionally, the Alberta government is eyeing a 2026 construction start for the final leg of the Highway 11 twinning project south and east of Rocky. The highway is currently completed between Red Deer and Benalto.
The informal drop in session will be held Wednesday May 28 at the Lou Soppit Community Centre from 4-8 p.m.
