A fire advisory is now in effect for the Rocky Mountain House Forest Area, Village of Caroline and Clearwater County.
Under this advisory, Alberta Fire officials are saying, due to increases in the local fire hazard, all existing and new fire permits are being reviewed on a case by case basis. Some burning exceptions may take place with a forest officer’s approval. Officials also add, any burning without a fire permit, other than a campfire is prohibited.
Fires allowed during the advisory include:
• Safe wood campfires
• Backyard fire pits
• Portable propane fire pits
• Gas or propane stoves and barbeques
• Catalytic or infrared-style heaters
Fire officials are asking you to never leave a fire unattended, and if you see a wildfire, report it immediately by calling 310-FIRE. This fire advisory will remain in effect until conditions improve.
