Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools has announced two new associate superintendents that will start next month.
This includes the appointment of Ike Hanna as the associate superintendent of learning services and Nicole Zimmerman as associate superintendent of student services. The pair will begin their new roles Aug. 18, 2025.
“We are thrilled to welcome Ike Hanna and Nicole Zimmerman to our Senior Leadership Team,” said Ryan Ledene, Acting Superintendent of Schools for Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools, in a media release. “Their insight, visionary thinking, and proven leadership will be instrumental in driving our shared goals forward and supporting the success of our students, staff, and communities. We look forward to the expertise and commitment to excellence they will bring to their respective portfolio areas.”
Hanna has been with the school division since 2003 and has held numerous leadership roles such as vice-principal at St. Thomas Aquinas Middle School and principal at Father Henri Voisin School, St. Gregory the Great Catholic School, and École Secondaire Notre Dame High School.
He has over 20 years of experience in the Pre-K to Grade 12 education system and holds a masters of education in leadership and school improvement from the University of Alberta.
“His passion for mentoring educators, coupled with his commitment to faith, inclusion, and curriculum development, will be invaluable in his new role,” continued Ledene.
Meanwhile, Zimmerman has been with the division for over 30 years, joining in 1994 as a teacher.
She also served as a french immersion lead, a curriculum coordinator, vice principal and principal across multiple schools in the division. This includes Montfort, St. Thomas Aquinas Middle School, École Camille J. Lerouge, and St. Teresa of Avila.
Before taking on the new role, Zimmerman most recently served as the division director of inclusion and brings 15 years of administration experience.
She received a masters of education in educational leadership and curriculum from City University of Seattle, where she was awarded Presidential Honors for Meritorious Achievement.
“The appointments of Mr. Hanna and Ms. Zimmerman reflect the division’s ongoing commitment to fostering a strong leadership team dedicated to the holistic development and success of all students within the Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools community,” stated Ledene.
