According to the latest Alberta Wildfire update, the wildfire danger in the Rocky Mountain House Forest Area is now listed as low.
Continued rain showers and cooler temperatures have helped reduce the wildfire risk, and this trend is expected to continue over the coming days. Officials say it will take several consecutive warm, dry days for conditions to begin drying out and for the fire danger to increase again.

Campfire Safety
Abandoned campfires are a leading cause of wildfires in Alberta — and they’re entirely preventable.
Never leave a campfire unattended. When you’re finished, always extinguish it completely: soak it, stir it and soak it again until the coals are cool to the touch.
Fire Permits Required
From March 1 to Oct. 31, a fire permit is required for all burning activities in the Forest Protection Area, excluding campfires. This includes fireworks and exploding targets, which require a permit year-round.
Fire permits are free and can be requested online or by calling the Rocky Mountain House forestry office at 403-845-8250.
