The Rocky Hospital Auxiliary will be hosting a charity BBQ at Rainbow Ford in Rocky Mountain House on Saturday, Aug. 9.
Folks are invited to get a hamburger lunch for $6 or a smoky lunch for $4 in support of the auxiliary’s efforts to raise money for critical equipment at the Rocky Mountain House Health Centre.
Along with the food, people can enter a cash 50/50, and a raffle for a rug, quilt and $300 cash.
While the Rocky Health Foundation looks after fundraising for larger items at the hospital, the Rocky Hospital Auxiliary raises money for smaller items.
“Last year we fundraised for a keyboard for the family room,” says Lorna Beck with the auxiliary. “We also fundraised for Broda chairs- but everything is for the benefit of patients at the hospital.”
The group also fundraises for high school bursaries it awards annually to West County students entering careers in healthcare.
Beck adds, the application deadline for this fall’s bursary is Sept. 1, and application forms are available at the hospital.
Earlier in the year, the organization hosted its annual strawberry tea fundraiser, and looks forward to its pumpkin pie fundraiser in the fall.
The group also benefits from the weekly bingo nights at Dovercourt Hall.
The BBQ goes from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Rainbow Ford, and lunch includes chips and drink.
