First elected in a 2024 byelection, Councillor Ken Moesker has announced his intention to run for a full term in the Oct. 20, 2025 municipal election.
He provided the following answers to a candidate questionnaire:
Please provide a little background on yourself, including how long you’ve lived in the Rocky area.
We’ve lived in Rocky Mountain House for 18 years this summer. I’m semi-retired, but spent my working career as tradesman in various maintenance and operations roles. I’m actively involved with the Compassionate Care Hospice Society (CCHS). I’m married to Angela for 34 years— which says more about her character than is does about anything I’ve had to offer! We’ve got four adult children and four grandchildren.
Why do you want to run for council?
I joined town council after the February 2024 byelection, and being on council has been one of the greatest honors of my life. It’s been very satisfying and fulfilling work. I’m running again because I feel there’s still more to do. This council has introduced significant changes that make Rocky Mountain House an attractive place to invest and live, and I’d like to see the momentum on those efforts continue.
What personal or professional experience do you feel would make you a good councillor?
I’d start with saying that 18 years living in the community— we’re imbedded here, not just passing through. I have a certificate in leadership from Ambrose University. I have the ability and willingness to collaborate and find common ground, and also a year-and-a-half experience as a councillor.
If elected, what would be a few top priorities?
Over the last year-and-a-half, my focus has been on building an efficient and productive town council. I’ve done this through developing healthy, professional relationships with my council colleagues. And supporting initiatives that I believe are in the best interest of the town as a whole. This is the kind of leadership I hope to bring to the next council as well.
Where can people learn more about you and your priorities?
My contact information can be found on the town’s website.
Is there anything else you’d like to add?
Thank you for reaching out, it’s important for people to know who’s running for positions of leadership in their community.
