The curtain has now closed on the 2025 WPCA Pro Tour presented by GMC after a big day at the WPCA World Chuckwagon Finals on a beautiful Sunday afternoon in Rocky Mountain House.
There was a lot on the line as Chanse Vigen, Jason Glass, Obrey Motowylo would compete in the Championship Final Heat where they will be racing for $25,000 cash and the Battle of the Rockies Championship.
When the wagons crossed the finish line for the last time in 2025, it was 2025 Strathmore Stampede Champion Jason Glass, driving the Birchcliff Energy Ltd. outfit, and along with outriders Trey MacGillivray and Tyson Whitehead, who capped off a fine season by capturing the season ending Battle of the North Championship.
Glass won the Battle of the Rockies Championship with a track record run on the Rocky Mountain House racetrack of 1:12.25 from barrel position number 3.
Obrey Motowylo, placed second from barrel position number 4, 1.18 seconds behind the champion Jason Glass.
Kurt Bensmiller placed third from barrel position number 1, and Chanse Vigen’s outfit, which was being driven by replacement driver Lane Tournier, crossed the finish line in second place, but a one-second late to barrels penalty pushed him back to fourth place in Sunday’s Championship Final Heat.
It’s the first time Jason Glass has won the Battle of the Rockies Championship.
Jason Glass’s track record run was the 6th track record that was set at the 2025 Battle of the Rockies. He was followed closely by Evan Magee, who had set the track record the night before, with Dean Dreger, Jamie Laboucane and Chad Fike posting the five fastest times on the last day of racing.
Two World Champions were declared Saturday night as Chanse Vigen won the World Chuckwagon Championship for a record tying third consecutive year. Vigen, a won the 2025 World Championship as a chuckwagon driver by just 4.5 points over Jason Glass in one of the most hotly contested World Championships of all time. Rory Gervais won his fourth career World Outriding Championship over the two-time and defending World Champion Outrider Ethan Motowylo.
Equine outfit of Excellence winners included Champion Right Leader “JUNIOR” of Chanse Vigen’s outfit, Champion Left Leader “THREE SCORE” of Jamie Laboucane’s outfit, Champion Right Wheeler “LUCKY” of Logan Gorst’s outfit, Champion Left Wheeler “BRO” of Chad Fike‘s outfit and “CALM” of Jason Glass’ outfit and “RUNNER” of Obrey Motowylo’s outfit were the champion Outriding Horses.
